This week's program
Disaster preparedness in South Dakota on July 10 “On Call”
07-03-08
Blizzards, pandemic diseases, and even radiation accidents are all emergencies for which health care professionals in South Dakota plan and prepare.
On the July 10 episode of "On Call®," medical editor Dr. Rick Holm and host Tami Watson will visit with guests about disaster preparedness in our state.
Appearing during the broadcast will be Bill Chalcraft, the program administrator of the South Dakota Department of Health, Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response, and Dr. Matt Owens, a family practice physician from the Redfield Clinic. Owens has spent his professional career helping people and communities prepare for emergency and disaster situations.
Viewers will learn what steps individuals and families should take to be prepared for disaster situations at home. They will also find out how hospitals and state government are planning and preparing for large-scale disasters.
During the live "On Call" broadcast, viewers can call 1-888-DrOnCall (1-888-376-6225) with questions about planning for tornados, terrorist attacks, blizzards, as well as natural and man-made disasters.
